During the heat treatment of spring steel strip, attention should be paid to check whether there are defects on the surface

With the gradual development of industry, the amount of industrial operations has gradually increased. The spring needs to be constantly subjected to real and long-term enjoyment stress, so it needs sufficient toughness and plasticity. In order to obtain the required performance, it must have a higher carbon content. The width of the steel strip is within 130mm, and the length is slightly different according to the size of each roll. The steel strip is generally in the form of coiled steel, which has the advantages of high dimensional accuracy, good quality surface , easy processing, and material saving. There are many kinds of steel strips, such as heat-treated spring steel strips, mirror steel strips, 3Cr13 steel strips, etc.

The spring steel strips must have a high elastic limit and a high fatigue limit,because of  fatigue failure,the spring is often subjected to vibration and working under constant stress. besides,the spring steel strips should also have sufficient strain and plasticity to prevent sudden brittle fracture under impact force.
 
In process, spring steel should have good hardenability,low overheating and decarburization sensitivity. Reducing the surface roughness of the spring can increase the fatigue life of the spring. Heat treatment process of hot formed springs-In this way, most springs are formed by a combination of hot forming and heat treatment, and most coil springs are heat treated after hot forming. 
 
During the use of heat-treated spring steel strip, please noted:
 
1.Before heat treatment, check whether the surface has defects such as decarburization and cracks. These surface defects will seriously reduce the fatigue limit of the spring.
 
2.During the quenching and heating process,  should pay special attention to prevent overheating and decarburization, do a good job in salt bath deoxidation, control the furnace atmosphere, and strictly control the heating temperature and time.
 
3.In order to reduce deformation, should pay attention to the loading way when spring heating, the clamping and quenching way when the spring cooling.
 
4.After quenching, it should be tempered as soon as possible, and the heating should be as uniform as possible. Rapid cooling after tempering can prevent temper brittleness and surface compressive stress, and improve fatigue strength.
